What is the importance of learning the various subjects that make up the Social Studies?

It is important to fulfill your civic responsibilities. It is important to know how our political system works. People should be aware of what candidates believe and for what they stand when they are running for office. This will help them make wise and informed decisions. Many people throughout the world would give anything to have the rights and freedoms we have. By understanding how important and impactful these rights and freedoms are, we might be more likely to not take them for granted. Voting in elections is a good example. Too often, voter turnout is very low. While some people take voting for granted, other people around the world would give anything to be able to vote for their leaders.

Through the study of Social Studies, we can make wise decisions now and in the future. The study of the Social Studies impacts us in many, many ways.
